The scandal has also spurred renewed calls for the release of Jonathan Pollard, a former American intelligence analyst who has been imprisoned in the US for nearly three decades of spying on behalf of Israel.
Pollard, admitted to spying for Israel and was arrested in 1985. He was later sentenced for providing tens of thousands of pages of classified information to Israel.
Israel’s Prime Minister has said that release of Pollard has long been a priority."
